Happy Birthday Leeland!

Today's is Leeland's 5th birthday and we are so thankful. When he had the surgery we weren't sure if he'd survive and if he survived we weren't sure what his life expectancy would be. Luckily, Leeland is still here and doing so well. He is healthy and happy and more mischievous every day.

Thanks to everyone who has read his story, we hope Leeland continues to give hope to owners with liver shunt dogs.

Hello- just found your blog. I am about to have to go through the liver shunt surgery for my dog and had a few questions and concerns. Would you be able to answer a few questions I had or give advice? Thank you.

I am so blessed to have found your blog. We are going this Thursday to have our little Max checked for a liver shunt after being very tired, vomitting, and Abn bile acids. He is my world, being only a year and half I just don't feel we have had enough time with him. I'm an emotional wreck exp after reading all the stories unsuccessful surgeries. So thank you for giving us hope. I hope leeland is still doing great.

My 2 yr old caboodle is going in for surgery on Monday and we are so anxious for her! She has to stay a week in a veterinary university. If anyone can shed some light on the reality of it and what to expect. We had been told it’s major surgery and there could be problems afterwards if not corrected properly such as seizures and such so we are extremely worried. If anyone has information about this operation please email me on
Rachel.knight2010@hotmail.com any advice is much appreciated!
